About face
Fresh off an ambient album, French electro group M83 have decided to take a much different approach on their new release, Saturdays = Youth, due out next week. It’s sort of a teenager-in-the-80s album with a lot of references to the Cure, the Psychedelic Furs, and some of the better New Wave stuff. It’s definitely the M83 album with the most real “songs.”
Their first video is “Graveyard Girl.” True to the spirit of the album, the video is an unabashed tribute to John Hughes, though a low-budget one. It’s nice to see the guy in the jacket turn out to be truly cool, for a change.
EDIT: Sorry, the video has been removed. Bah. You can still hear the song, though, at MySpace (along with the first actual single from the album, “Couleurs”).
EDIT: It’s back.
