New (stupid) project

So, while my transplanted Oregonian friends and I wait patiently to become musically talented, what can we do in the meantime? Something easier. PJ has done film and video production. AJ has worked with clothes. And me? Well, I’m excellent at planning and taking notes. And we all got solid Bs in undergrad theater.

So why not join a video cover project? It’s basically the same as musical cover project, except the idea is to replicate a music video using whatever pathetic resources are available. The project we’re joining has a simple guideline: take any big-budget video and copy it shot for shot. It can be done totally on the cheap: construction paper, stick figure animation, fake mustaches, people in animal costumes, you name it. As long as it’s filmed with some care, anything goes.

Not surprisingly, we’ve chosen to do Muse’s “Knights of Cydonia.” I’ve posted it here a couple of times, but here it is again:

I’m playing the bad guy in the dark hat, as well as Muse drummer Dominic Howard (because I’m the only one who can even pretend to know how to play the drums), the robot, and a few of the townspeople.

A thousand bucks and a few cameras… totally doable.
