When in doubt…
Tomorrow night, Rob Dickinson, my favorite pop musician, plays with David Rolfe in Boston.
On the same night, Mark Linkous (aka Sparklehorse) is also playing. A friend described them as Flaming Lips on Prozac, which I think is fair.

So, whose concert do I go to? Well, here are the pros and cons. Sparklehorse is undoubtedly a better band; I’d put them up against any of today’s musicians. And I’ve never seen them. Meanwhile, this would be my 10th time seeing Rob.
Okay, it’s really no contest, because since 1995, I’ve never not gone to a Rob concert when there’s been one in town. e.g.:
