Anniversary
So, ol’ Mike’s had a web presence for 10 years.
It was in late February/early March of 1996 that I used the Clackamas Community College computers, most of which were still running Windows 3.1, to set up a personal homepage on Tripod. Kept that site running for years with almost no content (due to the fact that I had little knowledge of HTML, no digital camera, and no computer of my own until 2000). As I took on a few volunteer web projects, I learned HTML thoroughly, and soon I was comfortable working with Dreamweaver and FTP. Then, in 2002, I moved on to Blogger. Thanks to their butt-ugly themes in those days, I quickly learned CSS. And now… I’ve got some bigger, more interesting projects in mind, so it’s on to the next step: PHP and Xaraya.
Oddly enough, probably none of this would have happened without Tom Stoppard. It’s a long story. Thanks, Tom.
