Ahem
So, the House decides to cut food stamps and school lunches in the midst of a drastic increase in the number of Americans who can’t affort food. Their justification?
“The fact is, our country is going broke,” said Rep. John Boehner, R-Ohio. “We’re spending money we don’t have and passing it onto our kids, and at some point, somebody’s got to say, ‘Enough’s enough.’”
Hmm… might we be going broke because we’re spending $5.8 billion a month on a war that we had no justification for starting and that we’re currently not even winning? Why don’t we say “Enough’s enough” to that instead?
But no… people who can’t afford food should just make more money somehow, and we need to be in Iraq so we can win a war on an abstract noun.
A little math: THREE DAYS of war money would eliminate the food stamp cuts.
