Nice

So, the Portland Trail Blazers won the NBA draft lottery. Now that’s some good news. They lost big time last year (managing to pick some strong rookies anyhow), but now they’re likely to pick one of the guys on the right. I’m guessing they’ll go with Kevin Durant.

Go Blazers!

EDIT: Hmm… the rumor mill says they’ll go with Oden. I think they need Durant a little more. Oh well, it’s a nice dilemma to have.

  1. Eli:

I think there are a lot of people here in Portland that are still wanting the All-Star center experience. It could have a good result. #1 pick big guys (I mean true big guys) don’t come around that often. Count on them taking Oden.

Funny thing is, the Trailblazers spammed me an e-mail offering season tickets for $250 about three weeks ago. Along with it was a panoramic pic of the Rose Garden during the middle of a home game. Half the seats were empty. The caption read “The Best Fans in the NBA!” Yeah…all 25 of them. Tuesday night the Rose Quarter box office sold $1 million in tickets: biggest day ever. I wonder if I should e-mail the Blazers back and ask if the $250 deal is still good.

I really wish they’d pick Durant, because that’d give them a reason to stop the Darius Miles experiment. Oden is going to cause yet another frontcourt logjam (Randolph, Oden, Aldridge, Przybilla, Outlaw, LaFrentz). They could trade Zach Randolph, but he’s probably the most undervalued guy in the league — he scores 20/10, but no GM thinks he’s worth anything. So the Blazers might not be willing to trade him for the offers he gets. I dunno. And they’re not getting rid of LaMarcus Aldridge either, so I smell trouble.

Oh well, Kevin Pritchard is a good GM. He’ll figure something out.

$250 for season tickets is a pretty good deal! Things have probably changed now.
