Colbert Nation

Stephen Colbert continues to assert himself into culture at large. I was looking at Wikipedia’s entry for portmanteau word when I noticed this paragraph:

Recently many magazines and television programs such as US Weekly, People Magazine, Entertainment Tonight, and Access Hollywood use portmanteaux of the names of celebrity couples. The original was “Bennifer” (originally for Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez, later revived as “Bennifer 2″ or “Bennifer Jr.” for Affleck and Jennifer Garner, who are now married); other widely used names include Tomkat (for Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes), Brangelina (for Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie), Vaughniston (for Vince Vaughn and Jennifer Aniston), and Filliam H. Muffman (for William H. Macy and Felicity Huffman).

That last one, of course, was introduced on The Colbert Report and, as far as I know, only exists there. But its nice to see that Wikipedia has given it unattributed credibility, as it has done with “truthiness” and “wikiality” in the past.

Filliam H. Muffman — when I saw it on Colbert — made me laugh out loud. I mean, really out loud. Loudly out loud. Best one ever.
