I would learn my lesson…

…if I knew what lesson I was supposed to be learning.

Today, for the second time in as many years, I’ve been treated to a gradual hard drive crash. It’s my E: drive (the one that contains all of my music and movies) that is dying, so I haven’t lost anything really important. Fortunately, I still buy CDs and DVDs, so all I’m losing is the time I spent ripping files to the drive.

My C: drive, the simple Dell factory one that has run nonstop for a little over four years, continues to hum along nicely.

Every once in awhile, the E: drive sputters back to life and I take the opportunity to transfer files to my C: drive as fast as possible. I’ve moved 25 gigs so far, but I’m running out of space.

So, what’s the lesson here? Don’t use those extra drive bays? Only use extra drives for backup? Only buy external hard drives? I’m not sure.

Sure is annoying, though.
